AXIS Dance Company

Thursday-Friday April 25-26, 7:30 pm
UI North Hall, Space Place Theatre
AXIS Dance Company began as a simple movement class for women who use wheelchairs to explore the different ways persons with disabilities could move. From this grew an acclaimed, innovative contemporary dance company of performers with and without disabilities engaged in "Physically Integrated Dance," a new and powerful dance form derived from early class experimentation. Brilliant, provocative, and engaging, AXIS Dance Company—a jewel of contemporary dance and disability culture—challenges assumptions about the possibilities of
movement, and offers a full revolution of traditional notions of disability.
