"The American spirit soars whenever Taylor's dancers dance."

Pre-performance Discussion

Led by dance professor Rebekah Kowal and PTDC rehearsal director Bettie de Jong
Room 146 West High School
Paul Taylor's cheeky and controversial choreography has shaped the spirit of American modern dance, and the list of awards he's accumulated over his acclaimed career—including three
Guggenheim Fellowships, a MacArthur Fellowship, an Emmy and the National Medal of Arts—"rivals the thickness of a phone book" (Los Angeles Times). Now, at 80 years old, and in his company's 55th year in the international spotlight, "the world's greatest living choreographer" (Newsweek) and his vivacious dancers are still prolific and provocative. Hancher is honored to bring the legendary Paul Taylor Dance Company back to Iowa City for a night of mixed repertoire.
