On paper, it might seem a most unlikely collaboration: David Krakauer, crackerjack clarinetist and klezmer maniac; Fred Wesley, funked-up trombonist and longtime musical director for James Brown; and Socalled, beat architect with mad musical skills. But round out the killer band with topflight musicians (and a rapper for good measure) and you’ve got Abraham Inc. Socalled calls the result “super-hybrid monster music.” That’s just another way of saying that this is straight-up cross-cultural party music. It not easy to describe, but we couldn’t agree with Wesley more when he says, “You have to hear it.”
