DanceBrazil
Tuesday, March 3, 7:30 pm
The martial art known as capoeira, described by company founder and artistic director Jelon Vieira as “a fight like a dance, a dance like a fight,” is central to DanceBrazil’s electrifying motion. Vieira is credited with importing the handsprings, back flips, and kicks of capoeira to the United States.
Featuring live music and Afro-Brazilian traditions from Brazil’s Bahia region blended with modern dance and ballet, DanceBrazil is sexy, powerful, and uplifting.
The Washington Post raves, “There can’t be much anywhere to match the strength, flexibility, speed and…allure of the…dancers and musicians of DanceBrazil.”
