A Hancher Commission • World Premiere
An artist, alive to the world of color, finds his sight slipping away as he takes his first steps on a journey through darkness toward a different kind of illumination. Renowned theater artist and UI graduate Rinde Eckert draws on the experiences of individuals he has interviewed in Iowa City to create a vision of hope and beauty from the shadows of blindness.
Working in collaboration with the UI Hospitals and Clinics’ Center for Macular Degeneration, Eckert is joined by performers from the UI Theatre Arts and Dance departments as he brings his powerful story to life and light.
Join us in the UI Theatre Building’s Mabie Theatre for a remarkable new creation, presented in collaboration with the Theatre Arts Department’s Partnership in the Arts and the Division of Performing Arts’ Creating the Future Initiative.
Supported by University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics
This project is made possible in part by a grant from the Association of Performing Arts Presenters Creative Campus Innovations Grant Program, a component of the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
