The Spot project is designed to introduce families to a variety of popular
performers coming to Iowa. This is the third year of a four-year project.
David Gonzalez and The Bobs will make appearances in Iowa City, Marshalltown,
Perry and Spencer, Iowa, this spring and summer. The performers will spend
three weeks in Iowa participating in activities in each of the communities.
Funded by The Wallace Foundation, Spot attempts to raise awareness of the
artists in the four communities. Sponsored by Hancher Auditorium in Iowa
City, this website introduces families to David Gonzalez and The Bobs, and
keeps them informed of Spot-related events happening in their area.
Keep checking the Spot website for updates on events and performances for
your child’s chance to meet David Gonzalez and The Bobs. Also, don’t
forget to help your child sign up to be a Spot Kid.
David
Gonzalez

With his limitless landscape of imagination, David Gonzalez will share
his secret recipe for superb storytelling – all you need is one
mouth, two ears, a pinch of desire and a sprinkling of imagination.
His talents extend well beyond words. In addition to being a master
storyteller, he’s also a charming actor, poet and musician.
Check out David Gonzalez for an enchanting adventure in storytelling, or as he describes in his own words, “high art for little people.”
The
Bobs

The Bobs trace the group’s origin to the “Great Singing Telegram
Depression of 1981.” While you won’t find that in any history books,
you will find this three-man, one-woman a cappella powerhouse in the CD collections
of throngs of fans.
Pulse describes them as “the Beatles of the a cappella world,” while the Miami Herald believes they are “a marriage of Barenaked Ladies and Manhattan Transfer.” Truth is, The Bobs are so wholly original, all comparisons ultimately fail. If your family loves to laugh and sing, you’re ready to meet The Bobs.
